When can I register for Rainbow Playschool?
We have an Open House in both the spring and late summer.
If class size allows, we will accept late enrolment throughout the school year.
Rainbow Playschool is located at Graminia Hall (51101 RR 270) (map)
Why should I choose a parent participation playschool?
Co-operative playschool is an opportunity for parents to participate in the early years of their child’s education.
At times, parents will work alongside the teacher to support children’s learning.
Many life-long friendships have begun at the school. The first years “last forever” and you reap many rewards from your involvement.
It's also a gentle transition for your child from the home to school.
What role will I have as a parent helper on my Duty Day?
Parents assist the teacher in helping children with activities, supervising, and cleaning throughout the day.
Parents are there for all the children, although on your duty day, you’ll be able to observe your child at play with others and enjoy the school day with them.
What is the maximun number of children per class?
Our maximum class size is 15 children.

Can younger siblings attend during my Duty Day?
Non-registered children, including siblings, are not permitted to attend with the Duty Parent
What support is available for children when they need to use the washroom?
We do not supervise children on trips to the bathroom as it is located within our classroom.
We will help if needed, mostly with getting on/off the toilet or with difficult snaps/buttons, and even more importantly, with hand washing.
If using the washroom is difficult for your child, the teacher will be the one to support as the teacher is the most familiar and consistent adult with your child.
What should my child wear to school?
Our program includes exploring a variety of art mediums, including lots of paint and glue.
As well, children play active games and do a lot of dancing.
Wearing play clothes and comfortable shoes to playschool is a must.
We also use the playground on some days and it is important that your child has suitable outdoor clothing for the weather on these days.
The teacher will ensure that you know when outdoor clothing is required.
Is there a snack time?
Yes, snack time usually occurs mid-morning.
You are responsible for providing a nut-free snack for your child each school day.
Please model healthy food choices for your child by providing an appropriate morning snack.
Children will have treats on special days. Parents will be informed about these days through the newsletter.
Please provide your child with only one or two choices of food in snack-sized portions.
Snack time is only 15 minutes, so please send a reasonable quantity of food for your child to eat in this short amount of time.
My child has food allergies; can he/she still attend this playschool?
We are a school that supports children with allergies.
Children do not share snacks and we ensure that children wash their hands before and after snack time.
Our teacher ensures that all snacks provided by the school comply with the school’s nut-free policy and any other allergies that arise in a given year.
If your child has allergies make sure that you complete the medical information section on your child’s registration form.
Can I stay with my child on the first day of Payschool?
The first day of playschool will be an orientation day.
There will be a Getting to Know Rainbow Playschool checklist for each parent to complete with their child.
Once you have completed the checklist, your child is free to explore and play.
Parents are welcome to stay for the remainder of the day, but are not obligated to.
Let your child and their comfort level be your guide so the transition will be as smooth as possible.
What sort of communication is there from Rainbow Playschool?
Information such as the Duty Parent schedule, school newsletter, and permission slips will be sent via e-mail and posted on our secure Rainbow Playschool Parents Facebook page.
If you do not utilize e-mail or Facebook, please let the Teacher know as soon as possible, so alternate arrangements can be made for you.
Some items such as Scholastic Book Orders and Fundraising Forms will be sent home with your child.
If you have any questions or concerns that require speaking to the Teacher directly, she will be available each school day from 11:30 to 12:00.
What if my child is sick?
For the safety and well-being of all children, if your child, anyone in your immediate family or anyone in your care is exhibiting flu or cold symptoms, please avoid bringing your child to playschool until they are fully recovered.
Rainbow Playschool will not administer routine medication.
In the event that your child requires emergency medication, Rainbow Playschool will require the following:
• Written consent from the parent/guardian
• Medication which must have the original label with the child’s name and dose
• Clear written instruction as to when and how the medication is to be administered
What if my child becomes ill while at Preschool?
If your child develops a fever, vomiting, diarrhea or cough with fever while at school, you will be contacted to pick up your child immediately.
Ill students will be kept away from other children and monitored by the Duty Parent until picked up.
Prior to returning to school, your child must be clear of all symptoms for at least a 24-hour period, without medication.
Please use your best judgment to minimize the exposure to all children and families.
