Parent involvement enriches all aspects of our school and cooperation between parents and teachers benefits the common goal of developing a content and confident child.

When a child feels valued and secure they are able to fully immerse their minds and engage in positive learning experiences.

Rainbow Play School Duty Parent

A Parent Involvement Playschool (PIP) is a place for families and teachers to work together, creating a positive, supportive, and enriched educational environment for children.

Children and parents learn new skills, build community and share in their first school experience together.

Spending time in the classroom provides parents the opportunity to observe their child in a school setting and see how they interact and learn.

What is a Duty Parent?

Parents take turns attending and assisting during school sessions (ie. Parent-duty Days) and under the direction of the Teacher. Our licensing requires that one adult be present with the teacher at all times during the school day. This includes helping with activities, celebrating special occasions in the classroom, helping supervise during outside time, etc.

The number of duty days required by each family is dependent on playschool enrollment and is set at the start of each year (On average one parent duty day a month). Spending time in the classroom provides parents the opportunity to observe their child in a school setting and see how they interact and learn.

The Duty Parent is a valuable part of the learning environment.  Their primary role is to interact with the children and assist them to participate constructively in classroom activities.  READ MORE...

Takedown and Setup

In the event that Graminia Community League books a rental at Graminia Hall, the playschool is required to do a takedown.

This means that we must move all of our furniture and classroom materials into storage for the duration of the rental.

Each takedown takes approximately one hour and will be the responsibility of all parents.
